Why study in New Zealand?

New Zealand is fast emerging as one of the best study destinations for international students. Most universities, colleges and institutions in New Zealand are government-owned and funded and maintain high teaching and learning standards.

It terms of economy, New Zealand’s is largely home-grown. Some of biggest companies based there are Air New Zealand (airliner), Spark New Zealand (telecoms company), Progressive Enterprises (retail) and Fletcher Building (construction company). Auckland ranks consistently among the world’s most liveable cities and has a thriving start-up scene.

Kiwis, as people living in New Zealand are affectionately called, enjoy year-round good weather, high salaries, access to spectacular beaches and a healthy work-life balance. The country’s breathtakingly beautiful landscape, ski resorts, lakes and national parks attract millions of tourists every year.
International graduates are typically offered post-study work visas of up to 3 years upon graduation.

Checklist for getting I20 :

Application Form
Passport copy
Academic Certificates (10, 10+2 , Bachelors).
Individual / consolidated mark sheets

Documents for VISA:

Covering letter
Demand Draft of Rs. 14,600/- drawn on any bank in the name of “Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment” payable at Par.
Demand Draft of Rs. 950/- in the name of TT services.
Passport of the student along with Copy of First & Last page.
Visa Application forms/Supplementary information from
2 passport sized colored photographs 45 mm height by 35 mm width (with face minimum 70% and maximum 80%) on non white but light color background
Offer Letter from Education Institution.
Bank Balance Statement/Education Loan Letter (Bank balance needs to be equal to 1st year tuition fees + 15,000 NZD towards living expenses).
Explanation for Recent Bank Entries along with documentary evidences.
Letter of Authorization for verification of Bank Balance.
Financial Undertaking form from each sponsor.
Affidavit of Support from sponsor.
Passport & Pan Card Copy of sponsor.
Income Tax returns of sponsor for last 3 years.
Relationship proof if the sponsor is not the parents.
Copy of Birth Certificate of Student.
Academic Documents from 10th, 12th, Bachelors.
Employment Certificates if any
IELTS Score Card.
Medical Reports from Panel Doctor- It should not be 3 Months Old.
Police Clearance Certificate (Police certificates must be less than six months old when you submit your application).
Statement of Purpose.
Just a date prior to visa interview, student has to get his finger printing and document verification done at the Embassy.

Intakes and Deadlines

NZ universities have 2 intakes for students

Main Intakes – : February and September
Other Intakes – : May, July, November

However ITPs and Private Institutes may have different Intakes for different courses. Practically there is an intake every month in some or the other institution resulting in recruitment throughout the year.

Deadlines:

There is no deadline as such in New Zealand but it is recommended to send applications at least 4 months prior to the start date to avoid end moment troubles

Funding Options

You can study in New Zealand at an affordable cost by planning in advance and by applying to scholarships offered by various universities in New Zealand. Many of these scholarships are provided by New Zealand’s government or by various public/private organizations in order to help international students fund their studies. Depending on the University, destination, criteria, and degree you choose these aids can be partially or fully paid.

To apply for these scholarships’ the criteria is generally the same, that is good academics but sometimes it depends upon the course, level of the destination you choose.

Working Options

Students who have successfully completed in New Zealand a qualification that would qualify for Graduate Job Search Work Visa have to apply within 3 months after the end date of the student visa for that qualification. Students will be granted a work visa for a maximum period of 12 months on following conditions:

Applicants must provide a completed work visa application form and fee.
Evidence that they have successfully completed a qualification in New Zealand that meets the study to work qualification requirements.
Evidence that they have a minimum of $4200 in funds available to maintain themselves during their stay in New Zealand.

Evidence of an offer of employment is not required.
